There has been a recent increase in number of incidents involving pollution from the Inert Gas Scrubber overboard discharge. The purpose of this Safety Alert Bulletin is to highlight this trend to all tanker operators especially those who are, may be, or aspire to be engaged in ExxonMobil affiliate business. It is hoped that this bulletin will cause such operators to review their internal procedures / guidelines for operations relating to Boilers and the Inert Gas Generator / System, including inspection and maintenance of machinery and equipment.

Step 1st At least for 4 hours re circulate the tank with hot water (80 – 85 °C ) with completion of 3 machine cycle .
Step 2nd Only applicable when tank is going for WALL WASH TEST standard specification :

The Maritime Safety Committee, at its eighty-first session (10 to 19 May 2006), with a view to providing enhanced guidance for passenger ships operating in cold water areas, approved the Guide to cold water survival, prepared by the Sub-Committee on Radiocommunications and Search and Rescue, at its tenth session (6 to 10 March 2006), as set out in the annex.

Proper speed of the pump doesn't allow slops to build up , otherwise rewashed resulting in lost of time, that's why throughout the cleaning process , Expertise always kept cargo pump ( suitable with proper speed ) in runing condition.
